5th Athena/WFI Proto-Consortium Meeting
Palermo, 25 - 26 January 2017
Palazzo Chiaramonte Steri
Piazza Marina, 61
The Athena mission, ESA's next larger X-ray
Observatory, is currently in phase A study. The call for the payload of the
mission is expected to be issued by ESA at the begin of 2017. This is an
important moment in the mission and instrument development and will see many of
us involved in the preparation of a substantial amount of technical
documentation to demonstrate the technical feasibility and scientific value of
the Wide Field Imager.
The 5th WFI proto-consortium meeting, that will be
held in Palermo on January 25-26 2017, comes to the appropriate timing to
review the status of our development activities and organize the work necessary
to prepare the instrument proposal to ESA. All members of the WFI
proto-consortium are invited to participate to the meeting, however, in
order to cover all relevant subjects within the short time frame of the
meeting, the presentations will be on request only.
For their kind support, the organizers of the meeting thank
