Smooth the images
Currently, GAUSSIAN, BOXCAR and LORENTZIAN smoothings are permitted. The original image is preserved, and a new, smoothed image is written. Future calls to PLOT IMAGE will view the smoothed image (unless you CLEAR SMOOTH). Future calls to smooth, however, will smooth the original image again, and overwrite the previous smoothed image.
The output image will preserve the data type of the original image, unless you set the parameter smooth_outtype.
