Basic data

The observation of the NE rim of the Vela SNR (tex2html_wrap_inline724, tex2html_wrap_inline726) was performed with the ROSAT PSPC on 1991 April 25. The PSPC field of view is circular with tex2html_wrap_inline728 diameter. The spatial resolution is 30 arcsec FWHM at the center of the field of view and 2.7 arcmin FWHM at 45' off-axis. The spectral resolution is tex2html_wrap_inline730 at 1 keV. We collected tex2html_wrap_inline732 counts in 3944 seconds exposure time. The optimized time-screening algorithm described in Bocchino, Barbera & Sciortino (1996) for elimination of residual non-cosmic PSPC background was run on the data, resulting in the rejection of 186 seconds (5% of the exposure time).

For a more detailed description of the observation we refer to Paper I.
